My love of nude lipsticks really is something else, as is my love of MAC lipsticks... so when you combine my two loves together in a lipstick like Whirl, then you can probably guess how excited and happy I was with purchasing such an item as the new addition to my ever growing collection!
Just over a year ago, I felt a similar thrill when finally purchasing Velvet Teddy for myself after what felt like months upon months of practically drooling over the many images of it that I regularly saw on my feeds. However, now a year has passed swiftly by, and I must say that my beloved Velvet Teddy certainly is nearing the end of it's life - I have of course worn it pretty much every single day since I bought it (maybe a slight exaggeration, but I have worn it an awful lot), so all things considered, this lipstick has lasted very well indeed... especially when I did actually drop it on my desk not long after first purchasing it, and lost a bit of the top part in the process (whoops)!
Recently though, I have found myself on a bit of a search for a new nude lipstick - immediately, I knew that I wanted to try and get myself another MAC item due to my immense love for their amazing quality items and extensive shade range, but to be honest I didn't want to do the boring thing and simply repurchase Velvet Teddy. So, after a browse (a very long browse) through their many colours and finishes, I decided to opt for Whirl, which like Velvet Teddy, is nude and is also matte (my personal favourite lipstick finish), but is probably just a bit darker than my old favourite.
Like the vast majority of other MAC lipsticks, this particular shade cost me £15.50, when I purchased it at their rather large (yet rather busy) counter in Harrods last week, and just like the other MAC lip products that I have previously bought, I must say that Whirl has quickly become a firm favourite with me...
It was no particular surprise to me that I would love this lipstick just as much as I do, as with it's gorgeous matte finish and dark nude shade, it was always destined to be loved. I do sort of wish that I had also bought the matching lip liner to pair with this lipstick (never mind eh), but even without it, this item still glides onto the lips with great precision, and is in fact really quite easy to apply, just like my previous MAC purchases. Talking of my other, previous MAC lipsticks, Whirl also has great staying power too just as they do, and doesn't really seem to budge off my lips for some hours, and only starts to fade a little (and I mean a little) upon eating and drinking - but if you can't get round to reapplying said shade it probably doesn't matter that much anyway, as in all honesty you can't tell really when it has faded!
Wow Olivia, what a poor quality photo of you! Yes, I know the above photo isn't too good, but I just really wanted to share an image with you all of what my Whirl lipstick actually looks like when applied to the lips, as I normally find such photos rather helpful when looking to purchase a particular shade myself...
As you can probably see though, this shade is really really lovely when applied, and is pretty comparable to Velvet Teddy in terms of looks - hence why after only a week of owning Whirl, I am already pretty in love with it, and am very happy to have added it to my MAC lipstick collection (which still only stands at 6 lipsticks... I know, very poor for a blogger).
