I can't exactly pin point when and where my love of Benefit began, but for the sake of this post we will just assume it to be several years ago, and over those several years I have accumulated a large number of Benefit products and seen the brand itself release all manner of new items...
Every Christmas time, Benefit release a new set of beauty gifts, and for some reason, every year quite recently I have seemed to acquire at least one of these marvellous products. Of course, said box sets do seem to have the same sort of items featured in them each year, but for a lover of Benefit like myself, they do still make for pretty great presents and help me to regularly top up my collection of items from the aforementioned brand at the point in the year when I am normally running low on my favourites. This year, I feel that Benefit have done particularly well with the designs and look of their box sets, and when I got my Girl-A-Rama one a few weeks ago (I pretty much immediately fell in love with it's super cute packaging straight away) I just knew that I had to write up a review of sorts on it!
The first of many classic Benefit products in this set, is the Professional Primer, which I have to admit is probably one of my all time favourite primers and I was, in fact, pretty happy to see a small, travel-sized version of this item in my new set due to the fact that I am near enough ran out of my old bottle. This primer is pretty much a cult classic nowadays amongst much of the blogging community, and I for one am going to follow with tradition and rave ever more about my love for this primer - with a creamy consistency, I must say that this primer does very much live up to expectations and leaves the skin feeling incredibly smooth and ready for the makeup application that follows. However, it is pretty pricey to just go out and buy on an average shopping day (but, saying that, many of the best primers are), so with such a reasonably sized bottle finding it's way into this set, I did find myself feeling pretty chuffed indeed!
Another item that I was more than a little happy to see when I opened up my Benefit set, was none other than the Roller Lash Mascara. This has been a firm favourite of mine for quite some time now, and although I am currently using the full-sized version of this mascara which will probably take a good while to run out/dry out, it is nice to now have that reassurance of having a back up version in the future. Due to how fantastic this mascara is in terms of quality (the brush shape is simply amazing at helping to reach every lash, and it generally also really helps to bolden the eyes), I'm pretty glad that Benefit are now stocking this particular product in their sets instead of They're Real - which, whilst I do like, have to admit to being not such a big fan of now I have tried out Roller Lash.
Other products in this Benefit set include Benetint, which is a red cheek and lip tint that adds a bit of colour to both of said areas, as well as a blush combo containing both Coralista and Rockateur in a split pan. I have to admit though, that I'm not really the biggest fan of the Benetint as after using it in the past, have discovered that it doesn't really last all that well in terms of colour on the lips, and what's more, I don't really like cheek tints all that much anyway. Despite that though, I do really like the Benefit blushers, so am really quite happy that they have thought to include a split section of a couple of their most well-known ones in this set - I don't think I have ever tried the Rockateur blusher as a part of a set, or on it's own before, so I am actually really looking forward to give it a go very soon (I will definitely feed back at a later date on how I'm getting on with it!).
Also featured in the set is the Brazen Bronze eyeshadow, which I must admit, I was a little bit confused about when I first opened up the box, mostly due to the strange looking blender that comes along with said item to apply it. Of course, I am rather excited to give the eyeshadows themselves a go, due to the fact that they come from the They're Real collection of eye products, look really lovely in terms of their nude colours, and also all the Benefit eyeshadows that I have tried in the past have been really quite good. However, I'm not too sure whether I will be using the blender featured to actually apply the shadows with - I mean, sure, its a good idea to have a specific applicator to apply with (this one comes with a circular style sponge on the end to sweep the two differing shadows on with a once), but although I will give it at least one try, I do like to stick to my own brushes when it comes to putting on, and blending eyeshadow.
Apart from that though, I really do like this Benefit set, and what with it's super cute packaging and contents, I definitely think that it's one of their nicest sets in recent years. I like how this Girl-A-Rama set contains all the Benefit essentials and must-haves, but would also in the future maybe like to try out a couple of their other sets (for example, they also do ones specifically for the eyes and cheeks) as well, to see how they compare...
I know that Christmas is fast approaching though, and for that reason I would have to say that if you like Benefit then maybe such a gift set is the perfect way to receive some of your favourite items, as well as some that you maybe haven't tried before too. Plus, with such a large range of gift sets available, it's pretty certain that any one from the collection would make a good present for any make up lover - so get adding to your Christmas Lists ASAP!
