Autumn and Winter really are the seasons when accessories come into their own, aren't they?! As soon as the colder seasons commence, we immediately see tonnes of cute and quirky accessories begin to arrive in shops, and as a lover of the A/W fashions (don't get me wrong, Spring and Summer are great and all, but I just can't resist all the jumpers and sweatshirts of the latter stages of the year), I simply cannot just walk past said items, and tend to rebuild my collection of Autumn and Winter accessories each year....
Scarves, hats, shoes, jewellery - you name it, it all just seems to be a little bit more my cup of tea at this point in the year, and for that reason, I thought today I would share some of my essential accessories for the colder months here....(obviously some of them are a little bit obvious in terms of being must -haves, but I'm just loving the Autumn/Winter vibes so much at the moment, that I thought I would write about them anyway).
So far I have found that this accessory looks pretty good when worn with most things, and ultimately adds a really cute autumnal spin to even the most plain tops and dresses - for example, recently, I decided to wear it with a coppery coloured t-shirt dress that I own, and really did love how it looked and worked with such an item. Therefore, I really do want to get myself back into Topshop at some point and maybe purchase another couple of the choker styles and colours (there's an especially lovely looking burgundy one, that is very similar to my black one, that I already have my eye on for a future buy).
Cute Scarfs...okay, so this one is a bit of an obvious one, as who doesn't love a good old scarf to wrap around them in the colder months, but because my love for scarves is just so immense, I had to include them in my essential accessories list today. I already own quite a few rather lovely patterned and plain scarves (as you can probably tell from the image below), but have in fact had my eye on a couple more for a good while too - I just love when it gets to this time of year in particular, as a lot more of the big, thick, blanket style scarves start appearing in the shops, and after wearing and using such a scarf for most of last winter (I think it was from New Look), I just can't wait to get my hands on another rather soon.
Zara in particular always seem to offer the most beautiful scarves, with the coolest of patterns on them (I even mentioned in a previous wishlist post that I have been wanting to get a scarf from said store for seemingly forever), plus tonnes of other shops also seem to be stocking loads of gorgeous ones. With such a large range of scarf types and patterns to choose from though, it does take some time to decide on the perfect one.... however when I do finally get round to choosing a new scarf, I will be sure to share it with you all.
....and also, maybe a Hat... as well as a chunky scarf to keep me warm, a cute little hat (preferably a bobble one) is also on my list of must-have accessories for Autumn and Winter. I already own couple of really cute wintery hats from years gone by (the black one in the image at the start of this post, is a particular favourite of mine), and tend to purchase a new one each year depending on the colour of the winter coat that I get, but this year I am particularly feeling the burgundy and khaki sorts of shades that are so often seen to be floating about.
A hat really is an essential item when you live in the UK in the autumn and winter months, as the constant changing whether (will it be rainy, windy or just freezing cold? Nobody knows!) is pretty certain to cause my hair to go a little crazy. Therefore, if I buy a decent hat and then just pop it in my handbag whenever I go out, I can simply shove it on if my hair does go a little crazy...another reason why I love the A/W fashions, and their ability to cover up any mishaps.
Cool Shoes....how I love the shoes of Autumn and Winter! Boots, brogues and loafers to name a few - I simply adore all the styles that start to emerge, and just love musing around such shops as Schuh and Office and envisaging how I could incorporate such shoes into my own outfits.
So far for the coming months, I have got myself a lovely pair from New Look (I have no idea what style they are to be honest though, and after a quick look on the New Look website, seemingly neither do they) that I am practically wearing every single weekend at the minute, due to how insanely comfy and versatile they are. However, I do also have a pair of heeled shoe/boot things that I can't wait to start getting my wear out of, as well as an incredibly comfy pair of patent black brogues from Debenhams and some Topshop boots (basically just Docs rip offs) that I have owned for a few years now, but always seem to dig out again as soon as it starts to get that bit colder.
A Watch that goes with Everything....this final accessory is probably something that you should make sure you have available to you all year round to be honest, but especially in the autumn and winter when such an item can really add a lot to many outfits. I just love watches, and am pretty happy with the two that I currently own - one is a simple, yet gorgeous Olivia Burton number, and the other is a very lovely Abbott Lyon one (see above image) that I was gifted several months ago and often post photos of on my Instagram - it's just that pretty!
When it comes to the perfect watch for autumn and winter though, I have to say that my lovely Olivia Burton one really ticks all the boxes...its elegant style and black strap means that it looks good when worn with both dressy and casual outfits, and also pairs well with all the more darker shades of clothing that I like to wear in the colder months. Despite that though, the Abbott Lyon one is still a great addition to my collection, and I am still finding myself wearing it rather often despite its lighter strap.
As you have probably guessed by now, I do adore Autumn and Winter, and just love to embrace the fashions that come along with said seasons...particularly the accessories. There's still so many more things that I want to buy for the coming months, so I'm sure my accessories collection will continue to grow ever larger (as well as my wardrobe and clothing collection), so I will be sure to share some of my new purchases with you all over the next few weeks too...
