New in from Urban Decay...

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

I, for some reason, spent the last few weeks of my summer holidays wanting to buy new makeup, yet for the whole time felt completely undecided on what on Earth to get myself. Did I need anything specific? Foundation, Primer, Bronzer, Blusher? No (well, I do actually need a new primer now, but I'm sure that will be another story for another day), although to be honest, I never really do desperately need any of the makeup items that I buy, I just get them because...well you know, they look nice (etc etc).

In times like those, I always find myself scouring the never ending masses of makeup on sites like FeelUnique and BeautyBay, as I just know that on either of those sites, there must be something that will catch my eye (and if not, there is definitely something very wrong indeed). Luckily, this time I was right. With a sale happening on FeelUnique at that particular time, I actually felt seriously spoilt for choice...and when I saw the discounted prices of most of their Urban Decay stock, I in fact, got very excited indeed.
As you have more than likely guessed, I then proceeded to make a couple of Urban Decay purchases- opting for the Travel-Sized All Nighter Setting Spray, and a lovely looking Vice Metalised Lipstick in the shade Amulet (both completely worthwhile buys, considering that together they ended up costing less than £20). After the long wait (six days does feel like forever when you are excited for a makeup delivery), my much anticipated purchases arrived, and let me just say that, as soon as I opened both up and tried them out, I just knew I had to share some thoughts on my new items here today...

All-Nighter Setting Spray

Starting with this much raved about product seems like a no-brainer really, considering how hyped up, and favoured it is by seemingly the whole beauty world. Winter can be a tough time when it comes to makeup (and the matter of keeping said makeup firmly in place on your face) as the torrents of wind and rain, as well as sweating under vast layers of clothing, can lead to once perfect makeup subsiding a little. I had known for quite some time how much everyone seemed to love this particular spray, and how well everyone said it worked, supposedly keeping makeup looking flawless all day long (or all night long as the bottle so describes).

I knew to try out this stuff properly, I had to use it on a day when the British weather was really giving it some...so, on a rainy morning, after applying all my makeup as usual, I then proceeded to spray on some of this product (evenly, in the x motion that is described on the back of the bottle), before stepping out into the torrential downpour outside. During the course of the day, I walked out against the elements on a number of occasions, and also perspired just as anyone else would when running from shop to shop to escape the rain. Yet, when I got home, my makeup still did look pretty in tact- my foundation was still smooth, my concealer hadn't caked itself up all too much, and most importantly, my usual spots of shininess were...well...not very shiny at all.

I must say, I did feel pretty chuffed to see that this spray had actually worked rather well on my skin, and had fulfilled a fair amount of its original promises. Also, I did mention earlier, that I had bought myself the Travel-Sized version of this stuff- very happy I felt when I opened up my delivery and saw how big the bottle of this spray actually is, as in most cases you wouldn't even know that it was a small edition, and is sure to last me for months on end!

Vice Metallized Lipstick (in Amulet)

I do have a little less to say about this product, as from past experience, I did already know the Urban Decay Lipsticks to be rather fantastic and merely wanted to try out this shade in order to expand my collection of Autumn/Winter Colours. There are a fair few different lipstick finishes available in the Vice Collection (Matte, High Shine and Satin to name a few), but wanting to step away from my usual type of purchase, ended up selecting a metallic creation named Amulet.

As you can see from my swatch below, Amulet is a shimmery, shiny (generally metallic-looking) brown shade, or a brick rose as Sephora prefer to call it. In all honesty, it is just the sort of colour that I was looking for to take me through the next few months, because not only is it quite a pretty brown shade, it also isn't to deep or dark and does in fact like quite subtle on the lips...and I'm sure the added shine will also keep the lips looking a bit healthier when they do start to become a little more chapped and dry in the cooler weather.

I do just love my new Urban Decay purchases, and in fact feel very happy to have eventually (and I mean eventually) found, and chosen them as my latest makeup purchases after what felt like weeks of contemplating what on Earth to actually buy...

For under £20 (in the end of summer sale, the spray was about £8 and the lipstick £13, before I got a further 10% off due to student discount), the wait was definitely worth it with these two products...both are perfect to use in the upcoming months; a spray that will aid my quest for makeup that stays looking good all day, and a lipstick that is the perfect seasonal shade.
