New NYX Purchases

Thursday, 18 August 2016

I have expressed my love of NYX cosmetics several times in the past, and also detailed my joy at finding that a NYX counter had popped up in my local Boots store a couple of months ago. Until the other day though, I had only bought myself one thing off of said stand (a Matte Lipstick that I did a review of HERE), but with so many enticing items sat before me, recently I just knew that I had to purchase some more goodies...

As you have more than likely guessed from the title of this post though, I have in fact now bought myself a couple more things from NYX cosmetics- just two things have now been added to my ever-growing makeup collection, but both items are just what I was looking for and will hence be talked about a fair bit in this post.

The first item that I bought and am now going to mention, is one of the Vivid Brights Eyeliners which   was in fact a new item that I had had my eye on after seeing several videos, photos and blog posts featuring them. Personally, I opted to purchase the orange liner which some may think is a strange choice when so many others are going for the pinks and blues of the collection, but I did actually put some thought into my shopping here (a rare thing for me, as I do like to just dive in with makeup most of the time). My thoughts to be precise were that as an avid wearer of nude/brown toned eye looks, the orange liner would be best for me...

And in all honesty, I couldn't have been more right (that sounds so big-headed, oh dear)- as soon as I got home, I tried out my liner with the peachy toned eye look I was already sporting and found that the orange did in fact go perfectly. Easy to apply, and not too bright at all (I was a little worried the shade might look a little neon), this liner is quite gorgeous indeed! The colour is actually pretty subtle once applied, and is for that reason a shade that I am very happy that I picked out, and am sure to wear a lot of in the future.

The other product that I decided to get myself, after much deliberation, is the Dark Circle Concealer. This purchase was made by myself after realising that I really do need to invest more of my money into base products, instead of just lipsticks and eyeshadows all of the time; so what better place to start on my quest for a better base, than to try and sort out my dark circles...

I do get quite bad dark patches under my eyes (especially in the winter), so when I saw that NYX did a range of specialised concealers made to target this problem, I felt immediately intrigued. Admittedly, I haven't actually tried out this product properly yet, but of course when I swatched it on my hand in the store I noticed just how lovely and warm toned this concealer was, which really gave it the edge for me and made me want to purchase it! For £6.50, you really do get quite a large amount of this concealing product, but I do have to just express my one disappointment with this item, which is that it does seem quite difficult to get your fingertip into the pot to get the concealer out (however I do suppose that this issue can be cleared up with the use of a brush to apply the product instead).

NYX is definitely up there for me in terms of my favourite makeup brands (especially drugstore ones), and although I haven't really tried out my two new products to the full yet, I do feel quite sure that they will be just as good as the previous NYX items I have owned.

There are absolutely a fair few (well a quite long list actually) of products that I want to buy in the future from NYX as well (I was going to buy myself one of the Lingerie Lipsticks, but sadly my Boots doesn't have any in stock at the moment), but I would also love to here about the NYX items that you love so I can take at look at them too (please feel free to mention them in the comments below)!
Thank you for reading anyway!
