NARS Creamy Concealer

Tuesday, 26 July 2016

I wasn't actually going to write anything in particular about the NARS Creamy Concealer that I bought the other week, but after posting a photo of said concealer on my Instagram (@oliviabethh in case you were wondering), I realised that I should in fact type up a little review on it. My photo on Instagram recieved a number of comments- I noted below the picture that this product was in fact my first NARS product, which resulted in many telling me how much of a good decision I had made, and how that now I had tried a NARS product I wouldn't going to be going back anytime soon.

Reading through these comments made me realise how important it is to choose the right product, especially when you are picking out your first from a particular brand. I simply went into Sephora, and both wanting to try a NARS product and also needing a new concealer, I just dug my hands into my purse (almost automatically) to buy my Creamy Concealer. I hadn't really done any research into what I was going to spend my cash on, or buy as my first NARS item, and it was only thanks to good luck that I eventually opted for such a cult classic...

Hence why, I now feel it rather necessary, to share with you my thoughts and feelings on this product (all of which are incredibly positive, I assure you) for any of you out there like my former self, who are yet to buy a NARS  product and have no idea what you are getting yourself into. Well, in any case, I am here to tell you that the Creamy Concealer is undeniably the perfect product for you!

I, like many others, swore by the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer for quite some time. It was ultimately the perfect liquid concealing product for me- cheap, easy to grab a hold of as it is available in pretty much every single Boots store, and what's more it did work incredibly well. But while I loved this drugstore concealer, I did find myself wanting to try something a little different for quite some time, as I was never really sure which shade suited me with the Lasting Perfection, and also found that the bottles of said product did sometimes dry up a little quicker than I anticipated.

Like I previously mentioned though, I did no research into the other good concealing products out there and just stepped up to the NARS counter and took the plunge (I do suppose the common sense of NARS being a good makeup brand helped me out a little with my purchase though). I then waited until I got home from my holiday to try out my new product, and almost forgot that I had actually bought such a product until I found it in my suitcase and decided to finally give it a go.

Thankfully, it would seem that my feelings towards this product were very much the same as many of my Instagram-loving counterparts- I absolutely fell in love with these concealer from the word go!

The shade I bought (which is Vanilla I think) goes perfectly with my skin, and complements my fair tone, without making me look ever paler as many other concealers have done in the past. I can also safely say that this product lives up to its name in every way- 'Creamy' it most definitely is, as it smoothes gently over my skin to give a rather flawless coverage, even when my skin is at its worst. Furthermore, it doesn't feel all that heavy either (even when I have to cake it on over an especially ugly blemish), and as you can see in the above photo of my swatch, it is a rather smooth formula so sits quite well under my eyes to hide dark areas without creasing, or appearing too light and making me look like a ghost!

I have also found that this concealer looks rather flawless when worn with the rest of my makeup as well- many concealers that I have previously owned have looked rather clogged up on the skin when I have applied powder or even some bronzer over the top, but with my NARS product this certainly isn't a problem for me anymore. In all honesty, I haven't really seen any down points to this product yet (apart from the fact that it is a little pricey, but that's NARS  for you anyway) and can feel my evident love for it grow, as I reach out to use it pretty much every single day.

Sorry that that was only a rather small review, but I don't really think that there is much else to say about this new makeup addition of mine, other than that I really am very much in love with it, and am certainly very happy that I did make the Creamy Concealer my first NARS purchase.

First impressions of a brand are very important indeed (especially when there are so many makeup brands out there), so I do think it is rather important to get the first product purchase right. Hopefully in this post I have helped out any of you who do want to delve into the NARS brand and don't know quite where to start- I can assure you after using my concealer and writing this incredibly positive summary of it, that such a product is perfect for newbies as it is simply something you can't go wrong with!

  1. I always find concealers very drying under my eyes and they always look cakey with all my other make up so the fact you've mentioned that this one doesn't is a winner for me! Thanks for the rec, lovely.
