So, after much excitement and a never ending wait, my local Boots got itself a NYX counter!
Quite honestly, it's unbelievable how excited I was upon seeing such a counter appear before my eyes- just as I entered the shop, I remarked to my Mom that I really hoped we would get a NYX counter soon, and how excited I would be if such a thing happened. And then...there it was, before my very eyes, a NYX counter jam packed to the brim with beautiful, colourful cosmetics (it had only been installed in the store the night before I visited).
Anyway, after a long time musing through the many makeup items that were on offer, I opted to get one of the NYX Matte Lipsticks- mostly due to the fact that the lady who worked by the stand happened to mention to me that these lipsticks had been compared to MAC ones in terms of quality and colour. Therefore, I just knew I had to try one out for myself and let you all know how good these little things actually are...
The shade of lippie that I got was Strawberry Daiquiri (a lovely light red that I had seen on the Boots website a while ago, but never got round to buying), and it cost £6.50 which I believe to be a pretty decent price for a lipstick- especially if it is comparable to MAC. As soon as I got home, I sweeped on a coat of this very pretty lipstick, as I just really wanted to see how well it faired on my lips throughout the rest of the day.
The first thing that I noticed upon applying this lipstick was how beautiful the colour was- it's perfect for summer, and red without being too vibrant, or in your face. The second thing I noticed, was how matte it actually looked. Now, that does sound rather stupid of me to say, because of course, it is a matte lipstick. But, in the past I have had many a 'matte' lipstick that didn't in fact look that matte at all, and actually required a bit of powder on top to completely mattify it- however this NYX Lipstick does look completely matte, and in fact actually made my lips looked pretty flawless.
On to quality now, and again I have to say I was, and still am very impressed. Throughout the period of time that I wore this lipstick, I ate and drank on several occasions, and it was only upon eating my dinner towards the end of the day that I started to notice the colour of my lipstick dramatically fade. To me, this is pretty impressive for a £6.50 lipstick, when a £15.50 MAC lipstick will fade in the same amount of time, or maybe even less.
Is this lipstick comparable to my much loved MAC ones at the end of that day though? Would I put aside my spending in MAC to buy several of these lippies instead?
Well, I'm still unsure about that. Whilst I do really love this NYX lipstick, and do find myself very excited to purchase several more from the same matte collection in the future, there's nothing anyone can make me do to stop my love of, and spending in MAC. These NYX lipsticks are absolutely perfect to buy if you can't really afford to splash out on a more expensive purchase at that particular time- as they are exceedingly good, and like many other NYX products I have tried before, are something I would recommend to anyone! However, I do still find that there is something pretty magical about going into a MAC store and choosing out one of their many lipsticks (and getting said lipstick in one of the sleek black, logo embellished bags).
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this little first impressions of my new NYX Matte Lipsitck- if you also own one of these lipsticks, I would love you to leave any thoughts on them and other shades you think I may like, in the comments below...
