Holiday Hand Luggage Essentials

Wednesday, 8 June 2016

Okay, I'm aware that it's only just getting to summer holiday season, but I am personally going abroad this month and therefore though it wise to write a post about my hand luggage essentials a little early. I have pretty much been planning what I'm to take on my upcoming holiday for quite some time now, but really just wanted to narrow down the main bits and pieces for such a post, as I always find it interesting to see what others pack into their hand luggage...

First up, I will be absolutely taking a good book away to read throughout the holiday. I will more than likely just pop said book in my hand luggage, as that way it is more accessible to me if I do decide to read it on the rather long flight I'm set to endure. The book that I'm set to take away with me is Room- a book I have wanted to read for seemingly forever, and desperately want to get through before I buy/watch the movie adaptation. I am also bound to purchase a couple of magazines closer to the time of travel (Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and general ones like that), or at the airport, as I do love having a a good flick through a magazine whilst on the plane or once I get to my destination.

It's inevitable that my skin will dry up like I don't know what whilst in the air, so it's pretty important that I take some moisturiser with me also (although only a small bottle, as you can't take large liquids through security). I will also take another couple of makeup necessities in my hand luggage with me- undoubtedly something to sort my eyebrows out with, a little mascara, and probably some concealer to dispose of any dark under my eyes, and also a lip balm of some sort!

Sunglasses will definitely be needed once I arrive in the sunshine, and for that reason, in my hand luggage I will be popping in my lovely cat eye sunnies from River Island. Due to the inevitable influx of heat I will feel when I leave the airport in LA, I will also be storing a little pair of shorts in my bag to quickly change into, once I arrive. The shorts I am going to take this time are a lovely, light pair from Hollister, that are simply perfect to store in my bag as on the flight itself I will undoubtably be wearing trousers, as I find it can get quite chilly up in the air.

Of course, a long flight (or any length of flight for that matter) also requires a good pair of headphones. On the long haul flight I am due to sit through, I will be watching movies, tv shows and listening to music for the duration, in a bid to make the time pass as quickly as possible- therefore, I will be taking my trusty Bowers&Wilkins headphones with me, as they are pretty fab at cancelling out background noise. I will also have to buy some snacks to munch on, as I'm definitely not the biggest fan of aeroplane food- the sweets in the below photo as just an example of the sugary treats I am bound to buy myself nearer the time.

Obviously aside from the items in this post, I will be taking my Phone and iPad with me on the flight, but didn't feel it necessary to include those things today. I do hope you enjoyed this sort of holiday-themed post though, and found it (sort of) interesting to find out what bits and pieces I store in my hand luggage...

If you are going on holiday soon, let me know what you plan on taking as your hand luggage essentials in the comments below!

  4. Those shorts are so cute! It's always good to be prepared with your clothing when you're travelling, at the very least so locals don't look at you like you're crazy ;) I generally pack light, and because I find very cheap flights I don't mind to only bring hand luggage, so all of my needs are stuffed in my hand luggage, as of late! But if I were to travel in a more traditional manner, a book, headphones, lip balm, and and extra pair of underwear would be my essentials :)
