It was upon turning the page on my calendar this morning, that I realised how quickly this year seems to be passing me by! We are now into May, and by next month we will be half way through 2016, and I will also have finished high school (definitely a scary thought considering I'm sure that it was January only a couple of weeks ago).
Anyhow, despite my concern for how fast the year is passing, I will now get on with my April Favourites (favourites that include quite a mix of different bits and pieces from shoes to dry shampoo)!
Tie up Shoes...if you have read some of my previous posts, or even if you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I have quite an obsession with this style of shoe. I now own two pairs (one tan and one black) which I'm trying to wear as much as possible, and pair with as many lovely outfits as possible also.
I just love how these pretty shoes add that extra bit of elegance to an outfit- even with just a plain outfit, they seem to give that added bit of detail to dress up such clothes. My Tan ones were bought a while back from Dorothy Perkins, whilst my Black ones are more of a recent shoe addition from Debenhams. Either way, I simply adore the tie up shoe style, and have particularly seen it fit in perfectly with the style of clothes that I like to wear, over the past month.
Lovely Long Skirts...you may well know that I am quite partial to a pretty skirt or dress. Over the past month in particular I have been loving seeing so many lovely, long skirts on the shops- high street stores in particular are now starting to bring in gorgeously affordable spring/summer skirts (like the one in the above photo that was from New Look and cost only around £18).
I love wearing such items with cute camisoles and t-shirts, and cannot wait to continue wearing such skirts over the next few months, as well as hopefully finding a few others in the future too! The weather in April hasn't been all that desirable though, I have to say, and the term 'April Showers' has well and truly been the case with the forecast over the past month- therefore I am desperately hoping for nicer, sunnier weather in May so I can start wearing more of my beloved spring and summer wardrobe additions!
Highlighter all the way... As we approach the Summer months, I'm really indulging in being able to create more dewy and pretty makeup looks. A favourite of mine to create such effortlessly dewy looks are highlighters- with one particular highlighter that I have been using this month, being the Benefit High Beam.
I got this highlighter sometime last year, but thanks to the great shine that it possesses, I have only used a fraction of the amount in my bottle, as a little of this product goes an incredibly long way! The above swatch definitely doesn't do this product justice in anyway- in my photo you can only slightly see the illuminous shimmer of this highlighter, whereas in reality it is much more of a stand-out, pearlescent shade. I absolutely recommend this item to everyone, and have been especially loving it this month as it continues to be the main highlighter that I use in my everyday makeup routine.
Dry Shampoo... I have to admit that this has absolutely been a saviour of mine this month! Now I'm back at school, and sadly creeping into the much feared exam season, it's got to that stage when my hair care routine during the week is somewhat lacking. Dry Shampoo though, in all its glory, has saved me from having some serious cases of greasy hair; which leaves me wondering why it has took me so long to actually get round to using such a product. Currently, I own two bottles by Bastise (one travel sized, and one full sized), both of which work wonders on my hair if it is looking a tad gross, and both of which also smell pretty good too!
I really cannot believe that another month has passed by, and I'm here yet again ending another favourites post. Before I know it, I will be writing my May Favourites and whittling down my list of most-loved items yet again...
Thank you for reading though, and I hope you all have a great month (and good luck if you have any exams!)
