Of course it was only necessary when I went into the MAC Store in Grand Central Birmingham last weekend that I had to treat myself to a little something... The store itself is incredibly beautiful, as it is pretty large and as soon as you enter, all you can see is masses of makeup ahead of you (hence why I just had to buy something)!
Me being me, I immediately found myself heading towards one of the many lipstick stands in the shop, and as I'm always open to expanding my MAC Lipstick collection ever further, I found myself swatching all sorts of shades. Leaning towards the lovely coral shades that MAC stock, I finally settled on the gorgeous cremesheen shade of Koi Coral, which I will now proceed to tell you about in a little more detail.
As I previously mentioned, Koi Coral is a cremesheen lipstick that, like most of the other MAC Lipsticks, costs £15.50. It's shade is a lovely shimmery coral, that I have to say is perfect for me and my skin tone (I am rather pale) and also perfect for spring and summer, as I just adds that extra bit of warmth to a makeup look.
Originally, I was planning on purchasing Tropic Tonic for myself, after seeing so many bloggers rave about it for such an incredibly long time. A matte lipstick, I thought that it's bright red/orange shade would be perfect for summer- however, after swatching it on my hand on my latest MAC visit, I just knew that it wasn't for me. In the end, and as you may well have guessed, I eventually opted for Koi Coral; an ironic purchase considering I had never even heard of this particular shade name before, or thought about buying such a colour until I tested it in the shop.
I'm incredibly glad that I did go for something a bit different in the end though, as it turns out that this shade just works for me tonnes better than I believe Tropic Tonic ever would have done. Lighter lipsticks shades definitely work with my skin tone a whole lot better than brighter ones, and as you can see in the below image such shades are perfect for me to wear on an everyday basis, as well as for more dressed up/formal occasions.
I know full well that the quality of this lipstick will be fantastic in the long run too, which definitely makes it worth it's price tag- a year or so ago I would have probably told you that £15.50 was an outrage for such a product, but now I know that with drugstore lipsticks out there for only a few pounds less, this product is definitely worth the money!
