As I'm doing Blogmas this year, it does require me to think up a lot of posts in a short amount of time. In hindsight I should of perhaps planned ahead a little but hey ho, I'm pretty good at coming up with post ideas last minute. Everyday of Blogmas, I still want to product good content for you all so today I decided to do a little battle between two of my favourite winter nail polishes-the polishes in question being the Mac Sunset Sky and the Barry M Blackcurrant...
Packaging-to be honest, I like the packaging/bottles of both nail polishes as they are each sturdy, and individual to their own brands. However, I would probably say that they Mac bottle just takes the biscuit as it does look that slight bit more enticing with its matte black lid and different bottle shape.
Colour-the colours of these nail polishes, whilst similar in their wintery-ness, do look completely different once on the nails. The Barry M one is a lot darker and glossier than the Mac one, which instead appears as a more pinky/red shade when actually applied. This leads me to say that I probably like the colour of the Barry M nail polish more-mostly just because it is a lot darker and you can achieve that darkness with only one coat.
Price-Barry M nail polishes are extremely cheap (this one was £4.99) considering the high quality of them. I bought my Mac one from an outlet so it only cost £7 in the end, but even so I have to admit that the Barry M one is probably better value for money!
Quality-both of these polishes are of a very high quality, and both do actually stay on the nails for days without chips appearing. However, due to its gel-like quality the Barry M polish has a tendency to smudge a more than the Mac one and it does take a while longer to properly set and dry.
As you have probably guessed throughout this post, I pretty much love both nail polishes equally. Both are lovely colours to wear throughout winter, and I'm sure I will use them as my staple shades up to and after Christmas. Both are very different products despite the similar colours, but I have to say that the Barry M polish (well all their polishes really) are definitely the ones to opt for if you are going for a low cost yet high quality brand!
Anyway thank you all for reading,
